HELP US TURN ON THE LIGHTS!

Illuminate the stage with us as we raise funds for a lightboard for our Studio Theatre.

During the giving season, we successfully fundraised $6,151 towards the purchase of the lightboard. Help us finish off Season 33 strong and reach our goal!

As our season draws to a close, we hope to reach our fundraising goal of $12,400 for the lightboard which will communicate with and control our new lights. Every donation counts, no matter how large or small; we are forever grateful for your support and pledge to use every dollar responsibly!

By making a donation to our end-of-fiscal-year campaign, you will help us turn on the lights in our Studio Theatre. Each donation helps us make our lighting setup a little brighter, revealing our dancers on stage one contribution at a time.

WHY DOES THE LIGHTBOARD MATTER?

  1. During our gala, we raised money for the lights that will light our company members and School of Eisenhower Dance Detroit students as they take the stage for in-house performances. Without the lightboard, we cannot control the intensity of the lights, or which lights are even turned on!

  2. Having a lightboard in-house provides an educational opportunity for our School of Eisenhower Dance Detroit students. For in-house performances, such as our student choreography showcase, our student choreographers will gain invaluable experience with lighting design by setting light cues on the board. For any of our students that want to pursue technical theatre or lighting design as a career, the lightboard will offer exposure to the important tools that make a stage performance possible.

  3. The lightboard is another crucial piece of completing our Studio Theatre. Without the lightboard, we cannot rent our Studio Theatre space to local performing arts organizations to use the theatre at an affordable rate, which is one of our organizational goals as we work to unite the dance community in Metro Detroit.

How does being a non-profit organization impact the work EDD does?

We are a MISSION-DRIVEN rather than PROFIT-DRIVEN organization. Our mission is to develop the art of contemporary dance and use our art to engage the community. At the School of EDD, the mission is honed even further to use dance as a tool to empower youth to go out into the world and make a positive impact.

A substantial portion of our operating budget relies on the generosity of donors, foundations, grants, and corporate sponsorships.

We have a COMMITMENT to our community...audiences, students, supporters, fellow artists...to be good stewards of the financial resources entrusted to us, be good citizens in our community, and be good ambassadors for the art of contemporary dance.
