In this day and age, our heads are often filled with the non-stop details of our daily activities. What comes next? What time did I need to be there? When is my project due, and who am I working with again? From a young age, I have always been interested in a multitude of subjects and daily activities. As I have grown into an artist, teacher, choreographer, designer, etc., it is safe to say that I still juggle many different identities. I believe that I speak for many of my peers when I say that most of us do. As creatives, we put so much pressure on ourselves to showcase excellence through final products. There is pressure on everyone in their daily lives to “excel”, and for artists, that often means creating something “extraordinary”. Add on the additional task of running from one “identity” to another, and soon our passions can become draining and no longer enjoyable. One of the biggest challenges for any artist is the ability to stay creatively charged; to avoid that terrifying word *burnout* and to continue growing. These are fears and challenges for professionals, pre-professionals, and students alike - and they never go away! Instead of avoiding the thought of becoming stagnant, the best artists will constantly push themselves into the uncomfortable. Here are a few tactics that I turn to when I seek creative inspiration and feel the need to remind myself of my inner creativity:
